Breast Cancer News Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, with more than 190,000 women receiving a diagnosis of invasive disease annually and more than 40,000 dying of breast cancer each year. Worldwide, more than 1 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 500,000 die from it each year. Over the past two decades, there have been modest but real decreases in breast cancer mortality that have been attributed to improvements in early detection and treatment.
At this time, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® recommends mammograms every year beginning at age 40, a clinical breast exam at least every 3 years between ages 20-39, and every year beginning at age 40.
Volunteer Spotlight The first day Debbie Litke walked into our office, she became an activist for Komen Tarrant County. It would be impossible to list all the education events in which she has participated. She is one of the first to respond to any request for help, whether it is volunteering at an event, stuffing packets for Pink Sunday, checking in guests at a function honoring our Survivors, or simply offering her time and talents taking care of office needs.
Debbie is a perfect example of someone who gives back and truly makes a difference. Komen Tarrant County is fortunate to have Debbie Litke as part of our organization. Thank you Debbie!
