Volunteer Spotlight This month, our volunteer spotlight shines on Terry Wegemer. She has donated countless volunteer hours to Komen Tarrant County and worked on many significant projects. Terry serves on the Komen Tarrant County Board of Directors as treasurer. She is the Teams Chair for the 2010 Race for the Cure, providing information and support to those organizing teams for the Race. Terry was the Grants co-chair in 2006 and served as Grants Chair the following year.
Terry’s expertise and extensive knowledge led Komen headquarters to recruit her to review national grant requests. Her commitment to Komen Tarrant County and this community is evidenced every day by Terry’s dedication as a volunteer. We are proud of her work on the varied volunteer projects that make an impact on our organization and this community. Thank you, Terry, for your volunteer service and jobs incredibly well done!

Thanks to Ann Louden and the Frogs for the Cure Committee for organizing such a successful event! For more information on this event please visit the Frogs for the Cure webpage. Another special THANK YOU goes to Guy Housewright for taking such great pictures of the event. Visit Guy's photo website for more pictures.

Your friend has been diagnosed with breast cancer and you wonder, how can I help? Here are ten simple things you can do to help:
1. Visit her at home or in the hospital with flowers, gifts, books, videos - whatever she likes to take her mind off her illness.
2. Offer to help with pets, bills, plants or any other concerns at her home.
3. Run errands or do shopping when she is undergoing treatment.
4. Prepare meals that can be frozen and warmed up later.
5. Offer your help in learning more about her disease. Help her make informed decisions.
6. Rally other friends to support her when you cannot.
7. Offer to keep a web journal or publish a weekly or monthly email to friends and family.
8. Be there for her, listen, hug, as often as she will let you.
9. Find local retailers for the products she will need.
10. Tell her a joke - lighten the mood. Make her smile or laugh whenever you can.
