At Susan G. Komen, we are changing the way we speak about ourselves. We are moving our communication from "awareness" to "action!" Why do we need action? Many strides have been made and people feel confident that breast cancer is curable. Along with all theses major advances, people have gotten complacent and many women aren't getting mammograms. These screenings are vitally important because the closest thing to a cure is still early detection.
We are very proud of the fact that in our almost 30 years of existence, Komen collectively has paid for 600,000 mammograms and 100,000 treatment procedures. But, we need to do more and to engage more people as activists. Instead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this October will be Breast Cancer ACTION Month. We all need to take action…get screened, advocate and donate.
Why not get active now? Some of us might be taking time off this summer but, unfortunately, breast cancer doesn't take a vacation. Donate today.
