This group of women and men has been part of our Affiliate

3rd Party Event Spotlight
A special thank you to two local high schools for their support for Pink Out football games.
Keller High School and Keller Central High School have become huge pink out rivals. Their football game each year has incorporated a competition to see which school can raise the most money. Both schools sell t-shirts to raise funds and this year they were even able to raffle a pink golf cart! Their determination is saving a lot of lives this year. Last Friday, the two schools presented Komen Greater Fort Worth with a check for $37,080. This is an amazing amount that will make a huge difference!
Another great event was held at Southlake Carroll. They had a pink out event in September and presented Komen Greater Fort Worth a check of $6,792.49 at thier homecoming football game. The #1 ranked class 5A volleyball team also held a pink out volleyball game the following Tuesday and raised $17,020.33!Thanks so much to ALL the high schools that are going pink to end breast cancer!

What's for lunch? You might want to check out what's going on at Jersey Mike's Subs October 5th at all Jersey Mike's locations!

Grantee Spotlight
Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth is the recipient of two grants from our Affiliate. The first grant, for the Lymphedema Therapy Program, is designed for post-mastectomy/post-radiation therapy for women needing treatment. Two trained and certified MLD/CDT therapist/registered nurses treat patients who are suffering from lymphedema.
The second grant, Reducing Breast Cancer Disparities in Early Detection Screening Mammography, offers free mammography screening and prevention services, diagnostic procedures, and educational and support resources. The services are available to any woman who is financially/medically underserved in Tarrant, Parker, Johnson and Hood counties.
Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth has been a wonderful partner of this Affiliate since its inception, making sure that the breast health needs of women in our service area are met. We appreciate the leadership their knowledgeable staff provides and are proud to have the hospital as one of our grantees.
Volunteer Spotlight
The Komen Greater Fort Worth office has been blessed all summer long by the help of Pat Cook of Aledo. Pat comes to our office twice a week to help the Race and Communications Manager with all kinds of projects. If you received a mailed package from Komen recently, Pat is the person who helped us get those into the mail. Pat spent an entire day in May helping to clean and organize our store room. She's done everything from scanning photos to hanging quilts in our display window. Her help comes along with all kinds of wisdom and "things to ponder". Pat, we thank you for all of your hard work, for your unstoppable smile and for your awesome sense of humor!
Speaking of Parker County...
Folks in the newest portions of our service area including Parker, Johnson and Hood Counties should keep an eye out for some new billboards by Komen Greater Fort Worth.
