A True Win-Win!
During Michele DeCardenas' year serving on the Race for the Cure organizing committee, she read about Caren Lee's team, Support Our Racks, and interviewed Caren as a team spotlight for the Teams newsletter. After meeting via phone and email last fall, Michele and Caren finally met at the 2010 Race for the Cure in Fort Worth and now have joined forces to raise money for the 2011 Komen Greater Fort Worth Race for the Cure®. Caren is a long-time Race participant and fundraiser who has generated more than $60,000 for Komen Greater Fort Worth. She is a five-year breast cancer survivor and an advocate for women and men everywhere to fight this disease until it no longer exists. Michele is a member of the Race for the Cure organizing committee and the driving force behind the Tee Off Against Breast Cancer golf tournament, which has generated over $15,000 for our Affiliate in just two years. For 2011, the golf tournament will benefit Caren’s Race for the Cure team, Support Our Racks. You can be a part of this wonderful event - as a golfer, as a sponsor, a volunteer or even with a gift donation to Caren’s team. (Online fundraising begins October 21st.) THANK YOU to all the wonderful Komen activists who have volunteered countless hours over the past three months, representing us at health fairs, stuffing 7500 packets for Pink Sunday, volunteering at the Survivor luncheon, and helping the staff at the office. The grassroots support from so many volunteers is truly what makes Komen special among non-profit organizations. We value and appreciate each and every one of you! Read More>>>
