Greater Fort worth Affiliate Distributes Nearly $1.45 Million for the Cure

13 Local Organizations Receive Grants

The Greater Fort Worth Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists committed to ending breast cancer forever, proudly announces that 16 programs from 13 local organizations received $1.45 million in grants. The grants will assist uninsured and underinsured women and men in the Greater Fort Worth Affiliate service area, which includes Tarrant, Hood, Johnson and Parker Counties, funding vital breast cancer health education, breast cancer screening and treatment programs.

The funds were raised through the Komen Greater Fort Worth Race for the Cure®, local third party events and the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure®.  75 percent of every dollar raised by the Greater Fort Worth Affiliate stays in our 4-county Affiliate service area. The remaining 25 percent of each donated dollar is contributed to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® National Award & Research Grant Program to fund ground-breaking breast cancer research.
The 16 new grants will provide education, outreach, mammograms, diagnostics and treatment.
