New Name. Greater Impact.

Komen Greater Fort Worth includes Tarrant, Parker, Johnson and Hood Counties.

Fort Worth, Texas (August 14, 2010) – Susan G. Komen for the Cure® announced today the expansion of their local service area to include Tarrant, Parker, Johnson and Hood counties. The local Komen Affiliate has changed its name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Fort Worth Affiliate to reflect the broader service area.

With this expansion, a larger number of women and men will benefit from the money raised and services offered through the local Komen Affiliate. By spreading its reach beyond Tarrant County, Komen is strengthening its fight against breast cancer while continuing to spread awareness and knowledge.

"Expanding our service area allows us the opportunity to have a greater impact on breast cancer education, screening, treatment and prevention programs in the Greater Fort Worth area," said Ann Greenhill, executive director the Cure Greater Fort Worth Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "Through this expansion we will have the opportunity to help more breast cancer patients, survivors and families than ever before."

The 2011 Race for the Cure®in April will be relocated from Sundance Square to Ridgmar Mall, which is easily accessible for the entire service area. "We are excited to host the 2011 Komen Greater Fort Worth Race for the Cure, and believe that Ridgmar Mall provides the perfect central location for Tarrant, Parker, Johnson and Hood Counties to meet for a great cause," said Dena Newell, Senior Marketing Manager of Ridgmar Mall.

"Though we are sad to see the Race move from its original home after 18 years in Sundance Square, we wish continued success for the Race and are excited that the Komen Greater Fort Worth Affiliate will have such a positive impact on the citizens of four counties," said Tracy Gilmour, Marketing Director of Sundance Square.
