The Greater Fort Worth Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure was established in 1992. Thanks to community support, we are helping hundreds of women and men who every single day are faced with this horrible disease.
Our grant award process ensures the impartial allocation of funds to qualified organizations in Tarrant, Parker, Johnson and Hood counties. It is with great pride that we announce our 2012 local grant recipients who received a total of $900,000 in grants.
Up to 75% of the net income raised by the Affiliate is awarded through grants to nonprofit organizations providing breast cancer education, screening and treatment for the uninsured and medically underserved in Tarrant, Parker, Johnson and Hood counties. The remaining 25% of net income is contributed to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation Award and Research Grant Program which funds cutting-edge research internationally.
During the past 20 years, Komen Greater Fort Worth has funded more than $18 million in local grants for life saving breast health education, screening and treatment.
